We offer many options when choosing a new solid wood dining table. Our online gallery features pedestal tables, leg tables, round tables, reclaimed wood tables, rustic farm tables, and more. Find the style you envision for your home.
All dining tables are available in a variety of sizes. After choosing the style, determine the ideal table size for your dining space. Take notes of high traffic areas and walkways around the table. For assistance in determining the best table size for your space, contact one of our furniture specialists today.
Consider a solid wood, extendable dining table. Leaf options and storage vary by table size and style. Solid wood extendable dining tables are an excellent choice for small spaces. Condense the table for everyday use with leaves that store inside the table.
Wood Options for Amish Dining Tables
Our local craftsmen use a variety of solid American hardwoods including Maple, Cherry, Oak, Hickory, Walnut and Elm wood. All tables are available in any wood species.
Oak wood is a classic choice for Amish tables. The prominent grain texture hides scratches and dents that may occur over time, keeping your table looking good.
We offer both Red Oak and White Oak wood. Red Oak ranks at 1290 on the Janka hardness scale. Red Oak is more common, and we often refer to it simply as Oak on our website. Traditional oval double pedestal tables are classic Red Oak styles.
White Oak is a bit harder, with a similar grain texture. The Janka wood scale rates it at 1360. We use White Oak with mid-century modern dining table styles, emphasizing the natural wood colors. We also pair it with painted table bases to create modern farmhouse dining tables.
Cherry wood is another common wood type for Amish furniture. Cherry has a warm, rich natural wood color with reddish undertones. Light stains on Cherry wood will darken and show increasing red tones with age. Exposure to sunlight will also enhance the reddish tones in Cherry wood.
The Biltmore dining set is a classic Cherry wood style used for formal dining spaces. Plank style tables like the Farm Leg Table display Cherry wood with a casual style.
Maple is one of our most versatile options for wooden dining tables. The natural color of Maple wood is light, with a wide range of stain colors available to choose from. Maple wood is similar in texture to Cherry with a smooth wood grain. Both Cherry and Maple rank at 950 on the Janka scale.
Maple is our top recommendation for 2-tone tables with a black or white painted base. The subtle grain texture creates a smooth painted finish.
Elm wood is a lesser-known American hardwood. The grain texture has a feathery, exotic appeal. Medium stain colors like Michael's Cherry are best for showcasing the grain texture. We often pair Elm tabletops with sleek, black table bases.
Walnut wood is a strong, durable wood used for modern designs and live edge slab tables. The natural wood color of Walnut is a dark, grayish brown with a fine wood grain.
Hickory is the hardest wood option, rated at 1820 by the Janka scale. We offer both rustic and select grade Hickory wood. Rustic Hickory will have more color variation and visible knots in the wood, adding excellent character for farm tables. Select grade Hickory wood makes a stunning formal dining table.
Finally, select table styles are available in reclaimed wood. Our reclaimed wood is a mix of sustainably sourced Red and White Oak. Reclaimed wood adds character and texture that only time can create.

Custom Solid Wood Dining Tables
We never mass produce our Amish dining tables. The attention to detail, while building one table at a time, makes it easy to order custom solid wood dining tables. Our craftsmen encourage you to submit ideas and inspiration you find on social media.
When submitting ideas for a quote, please include the wood and color you prefer, as well as detailed dimensions. Please note that some designs will not be possible due to the characteristics of solid wood.
Create Your Solid Wood Dining Table Set
After choosing the ideal solid wood dining table, complete the set with matching chairs or benches. All dining chairs are available to match any table style. Choose from classic wooden chair styles like the Ladderback or Windsor. Add a formal touch with upholstered dining chairs.
Dining benches are another great option for small spaces. The bench tucks in under the table when not in use, keeping walkways open.
Care and Maintenance of a Solid Wood Dining Room Table
Caring for your new solid wood dining room table is quick and easy. Simply keep it clean by wiping the top with a damp cloth after dinner to prevent buildup. For deep cleaning, use a gentle cleaner diluted in water, such as Murphy's Oil Soap.
We do not recommend using wood polishes or cleaners that contain silicone, which leave a buildup on the finish.
Keep your wooden dining room table in a controlled environment indoors. Solid wood will expand and contract in extreme temperature and humidity changes.
Now that you are familiar with our line of solid wood dining tables, choose with confidence. Refresh your home and add a gathering spot for family dinners you can enjoy for many years. For more information about our handcrafted Amish dining tables, contact us today at Dutch Craft Furniture.
