What Height is a Standing Desk?

Adjust the height of your desk anywhere from 22" to 48" high. Standard desk height is 30" high to sit comfortably. Kitchen counters and islands are 36" high, and bar tables are 42" high. The height of an adjustable desk base is flexible in shared workspaces.

Choosing the Best Wood for an Adjustable Desk

Choose any of our solid American hardwoods for your adjustable desk. Wood options include Red or White Oak, Maple, Cherry, Hickory, Elm and Walnut wood.

People know oak wood for its strength and longevity. The prominent grain variation hides light scratches and knicks in the wood well, keeping the desk looking good for many years. Light stain colors enhance the grain variation creating a rustic appeal. Dark stains often minimize the grain variation.

The Janka wood hardness scale rates Oak wood at 1290 for Red Oak. White Oak wood is slightly harder at 1360.

Maple and Cherry wood have a smooth, even grain texture. Often dark stains look almost identical. Light stain colors have greater contrast with the natural red undertones in Cherry wood affecting the overall color. The Janka wood hardness scale rates both Cherry and Maple wood at 950.

Elm wood is another beautiful hardwood option. The feathery grain texture of Elm adds an exotic appearance, highlighted best with medium stains such as Michael's Cherry. We often pair Elm wood desktops with smooth, black stained Maple desk bases.

Hickory wood has a rustic appearance with light and dark color variations. Hickory wood is the hardest wood we use, rated at 1820, making it an excellent work surface.

We often use Walnut wood in modern design styles. The natural color of Walnut is a dark, grayish brown tone. Live edge, rustic Walnut slabs make stunning adjustable standing desks.

5. Place Your Custom Standing Desk Order. After reviewing the design, contact us to place the order. We require approximately 30% down as a deposit.
6. Home Delivery & Setup of the Furniture. Our furniture delivery is available throughout the lower 48 contiguous United States. All delivery is in home and includes completely setting up any items requiring assembly. The remaining balance is due at the time of delivery.

 

Care & Maintenance of Solid Wood Standing Desks

Clean your solid wood desk regularly to prevent dust and other buildup. We recommend a mild cleaner such as Murphy's Oil Soap, diluted in warm water. Simply wipe down surfaces with a damp rag. No polishes or wood conditioners needed.
