Amish Bed Frame Styles

Our Amish furniture makers in Ohio build each bed frame from scratch. This allows personalization and custom details that vary from one bed to the next.

The bed should be the focal point of your bedroom. Make sure that the bed frame you choose will be proportionate in your bedroom. Request a taller headboard for large master suites with high ceilings. Low-profile footboards are perfect in small bedrooms and are available with any headboard style.

Each bed is available in your choice of solid American hardwoods, including Oak, Cherry, Walnut, and Maple.

Mission Bed Frames

Mission furniture is a traditional style of Amish furniture, commonly seen in quarter sawn white oak wood. Mission beds often have sturdy, square posts and flat, inset panels. The Craftsman Mission Bed Frame includes wide slats in the headboard and footboard.

Classic Shaker Wooden Bed Styles

Shaker beds are another broad category of Amish furniture. Shaker styles often feature simple designs and tapered lines in the bed posts. Our Weston collection features a simple Shaker style bed with a low footboard.

Farmhouse Style Beds

In addition to solid wood beds, we offer several bed styles with upholstered headboards. All upholstered beds are available in a wide variety of fabrics and textures. Our local craftsmen use the sturdy construction and attention to detail for upholstered beds. All upholstered beds have a solid wood bed frame.

Light Wood Bed Frame Options

Maple is the most common choice for light wood bed frames. The smooth grain texture is subtle and even. Maple has a light natural color, allowing for a wide range of stain colors. Light stain colors on Maple wood include Willowbend, Sand, DC Driftwood and Cocoa Light.

White Oak wood and Hickory wood offer a rustic grain texture for light wood bed frames. We display Simply White on Hickory wood on our Savannah bedroom furniture collection.

All wood furniture is available with a clear finish to display the natural wood tones. Natural wood bed frames will vary in color based on wood type.

Dark Wood Bed Frame Options

All wood types are available with dark stain colors. Classic dark wood bed colors include Rich Tobacco, Ebony, Dark Knight, Gunsmoke, and Asbury Brown. Dark wood stains are popular on Maple, Cherry, Quarter Sawn White Oak, and Elm wood. Walnut bed frames have natural dark wood tones.

Solid Wood Bed Frame Sizes

Every bed frame is available in King, Queen, Full, Twin, and California King size. Most bed styles will add 6 inches to the mattress size.

King Mattress Dimensions: 76 inches wide x 80 inches long

Queen Mattress Dimensions: 60 inches wide x 80 inches long

Full/Double Mattress Dimensions: 54 inches wide x 75 inches long

Twin Mattress Dimensions: 38 inches wide x 75 inches long

California King Mattress Dimensions: 72 inches wide x 84 inches long

Storage Beds & Platform Bed Frames

In addition to choosing the size of any bed frame, there is a wide variety of options for Amish beds. Add any storage platform base to any headboard style. We offer three different drawer layouts for storage bases. All wood platform bed frames eliminate the need for a box spring to support your mattress.

The siderail drawer unit features two drawers on each side of the bed, built into a standard size siderail. This storage base pairs with any standard footboard style. The siderail has approximately 6-10" clearance off the floor, depending on the bed style.

Next, we offer the siderail and footboard drawer unit platform. This platform style includes two drawers built into the footboard and another drawer on each side of the bed. Footboard drawers require a low-profile footboard, ranging 18-22" high.

Finally, we offer a siderail drawer unit with extra deep drawers that extend all the way to the floor. This unit has two drawers on each side of the bed. Standard height or low footboards are available for deep to floor drawer units.

All storage bed bases allow clearance for nightstands at the head of the bed on each side. The layouts all feature four spacious drawers that add storage for linens, seasonal clothing, and more. Add soft closing drawer slides on any storage platform base.

In addition to storage bases, we offer beds that include headboard storage. The bookcase unit bed is ideally suited for large bedrooms. This unit combines a storage headboard with a drawer platform base and additional side cabinets.

Smaller bedrooms often choose the Weston Drawer Bed, a simple platform bed with headboard storage. This storage headboard is perfect for bedrooms that simply do not have room for additional nightstands.
