White Oak Extending Dining Table
All Amish made dining tables are available as fixed tabletops or as extending dining tables. Extendable White Oak dining room tables add flexibility, making it easy to add extra people at your table. Extendable options vary by the style of the table.
Rectangular tables with legs at the corners offer the greatest number of size options. A small dining table in White Oak may start at 36 inches wide by 48 inches long. This small table with two leaves extends to 36"x72" and easily accommodates 6-8 people. Larger, rectangle tables for 6 people start at 66"-84" inches long and may extend for 10 people or more.
Generally speaking, a rectangle table with legs at the corners will self-store the leaves inside the tabletop. Tables must be 12 inches longer than the width of the table to self-store leaves. Most narrow tables, 36 inches wide, will self-store two leaves. Larger tables, 42 inches wide or more, may store up to four leaves inside the table.
Modern White Oak Dining Table Options
Contemporary design is a perfect match for the natural texture of this American hardwood. A modern White Oak dining table often features a light stain, complementing the natural wood. The clean lines of the Monroe Mid Century table have a sleek, minimalist feel.
Straight sawn White Oak wood has a prominent grain texture with natural variation in the wood. For modern dining table styles, consider rift sawn White Oak wood instead. Rift sawn wood refers to an angled cut at the lumber mill, resulting in a completely different view of the same grain texture. The grain texture of rift sawn dining room tables is more uniform, shown on the Mid-Century Modern Round Table.
Rustic vs Select Grade White Oak Kitchen Tables
A solid White Oak kitchen table is available in both rustic and select grade wood. Let's compare the two to find the best option for your vision.
Rustic White Oak Dining Tables are Best for:
- Those who prefer a smooth table with no distressing, yet love the natural imperfections of the wood
- Smooth, refined tables that complement rustic farmhouse decor
- Medium to dark stain colors (Rustic wood will include small knots, filled with a black epoxy. This is less noticeable on darker colors.)
- Distressed, farmhouse style tables with character and texture in the tabletop
Choose Select White Oak Dining Tables for:
- Formal dining room spaces
- Natural wood or Light stains
- Modern dining room furniture styles
All Amish made, solid wood dining tables are available in White Oak with your choice of stain color. Classic stain colors include Stone Brown and Cocoa Light for farmhouse style tables. Modern styles often feature DCF Sand for a beautiful, light wood dining table.
White Oak Oval Dining Tables
An oval shaped table adds extra inches in walkways around the table. Narrow dining spaces and open floor concepts may benefit from choosing an oval dining table instead of a rectangle. Generally speaking, oval dining tables function best on a pedestal base, rather than legs at the corners. Oval dining tables with four legs must be longer to accommodate chairs fitting neatly around the table.
Like all Amish furniture, our White Oak dining tables feature a catalyzed conversion varnish to protect the wood. This durable finish is waterproof, heat resistant to 220 degrees and UV resistant to fading. Simply clean the table regularly to prevent a dust buildup to keep it looking good. We do not recommend polishes or wood conditioners.
