Bar Stools with Backs
Add support and comfort to your island by choosing bar stools with backs. All Amish dining chair styles are available as counter stools with backs. We shorten the backs of bar stools from the standard height dining chairs to avoid the risk of tipping over backwards. The height of the bar stool backs varies by style.
Amish bar stools with backs are available in a wide range of styles. See classic, black Windsor bar stools and X-back bar stools, as well as traditional ladder-back bar stools and shaker bar stools. Many swivel bar stools with backs feature steam bent wood slats to provide support and comfort. The classic Austin, Urbana, Fostoria, Kinglet and many more feature this design.
Bar stools with backs and arms are a favorite option for a man cave or game room. The swivel base allows you to easily turn and watch the game behind you. Solid wood bar stools with backs provide needed support and encourage lingering for conversation or sharing a snack.
Farmhouse bar stools with backs often feature light finishes and natural wood tones that blend well with the neutral color palette. Mid-century modern bar stools often choose solid Walnut wood or the smooth texture of Maple wood.
Counter Height vs Bar Height Stools
Standard counter height stools have a 24" seat height. Bar height stools have a 30" seat height. All Amish bar stools are available at counter height or bar height.
Custom height bar stools are available upon request. You should allow approximately 12" clearance from the top of your counter to you bar stool seat height.
Bar Stools with Arms
Amish bar stools are available with or without arms. We build each bar stool with arms to fit underneath the standard height of your counter. This allows swivel bar stools with arms to tuck neatly underneath the counter when not in use.
For bar stools with arms, we recommend a swivel base. The swivel base allows you to get in and out of the bar stool easily. Wood bar stools with arms are solid and heavy, the swivel base eliminates the need to try and scoot back from the counter.
Bar Stools with Backs and Swivel
Two of our top recommendations are bar stools with backs and swivel. The Turnstone bar stool is a round style with a low back that swivels completely underneath with bumping into your countertop. The Post Mission 2-slat is a super comfortable, ladderback bar stool with a low back. We recommend these styles for almost any bar table or kitchen island.
Amish Saddle Bar Stools
The Amish saddle bar stools are a favorite design in backless counter stools. These wood counter stools are available with or without a swivel base. Our Amish furniture makers in Ohio steam and bend the seats of these saddle bar stools. The curved seats of saddle stools are spacious and comfortable, making them a great option at your kitchen island.
Other backless counter height bar stools include the Mission and Gannet styles. Choose from square seats or round seats to fit your space best. All solid wood bar stool seats have a contoured profile that adds comfort and support.
The Urban style is the best backless counter stool for small spaces. At only 10" deep and 16" wide, these stools tuck completely underneath the counter when not in use. The slim design also makes it an affordable option for solid wood bar stools. We display this style as a black bar stool with wood seats to match multiple different dining sets.
Upholstered Bar Stools
Choosing Amish-made upholstered bar stools for your counter or island adds comfort and style to your kitchen. The upholstered counter stools feature a solid wood frame that creates the strength needed for a long-lasting bar stool. The legs of upholstered bar stools have the same wood and color options as the rest of our Amish furniture.
Browse fabric and leather options online for the upholstered bar stools. We offer a line of easy to clean fabrics and faux leathers, as well as genuine leather hides. Leather bar stools are a classic option for your finished basement or game room. Choose leather bar stools with backs like the Emerson or Parson bar chairs for added comfort.
White Bar Stools
Avoid overwhelming a small space by choosing white wooden bar stools. Choosing white bar stools for your kitchen counter is a fresh, neutral color that will not compete with existing wood tones. Kitchens often feature wood cabinets and floors in various wood tones. White wood swivel bar stools provide rest for your eyes.
Black Wood Bar Stools
Like the white stools, black wood bar stools are a timeless accent at your bar or counter. We recommend wood-stained seats on black bar stools. Black seats on counter height swivel bar stools may show scratches sooner that seats with wood grain variation. All counter height stools are available in a black and wood finish combination.
